Minu/Arangawa Sri Dhammarama Primary College, Horampella

Arangawa Dhammarama Primary College was first established on 1st January 1951 in a humble cadjan hut. It was not a formal school and was built to provide education to the children. This was built within one day and was built under the patronage of Dhammarama Thero. It was built as a legitimate school in its present location in 1961 by the head teacher named David.

He built the school on a land given by a Christian priest. There was also a bungalow which was removed and the school was built. For the construction of this building, then the  Sri Lanka Freedom Party Gampaha Member of Parliament S. D. Bandaranaike and Dhammarama Thero took the lead.

When this college was founded, it was a junior college and had classes from 1st grade to 8th grade. In the year 1973, this was converted into a primary school. From 1973 this college was known as Arangava Sri Primary School. Later known as Dhammarama Primary College.

When the college was established, there were three teaching staff and they were Mr. Kumarasinghe, Mrs. Seelawathi, and Mrs. Jayasena. Even though the college started with three teachers, now the number has been increased to seventeen teachers. It is evident that there has been a great development in the college since then.

The principals who have served since then are,

1. Mr. David

2. Mr. Abraham

3. Mr. Ranasinghe

4. Mr. DR Pathirana

5. P. Mr. Weeratunga

6. K.R. Mr. Chandrasiri

7. Mr. W.A. Gunasinghe

8. Mrs. Kusumavathy Amarasinghe
